Elephant Festival - Jaipur - Rajasthan : - The Pink City of Rajasthan, Jaipur, is the venue for the much awaited Elephant Festival in Rajasthan. The elephants decorated and bejeweled with gold plated ornaments and the 'Mahaouts' sitting on the elephant's back on the gold and silver 'howda' highlight the elephant processions in the elephant festival. The 'best elephant contest' is organized giving away the award for the best male elephant according to his size and beauty of trunk, tusks, tail and ears.
The other highlighting events of the elephant festival are elephants' fights, dances and sports. The Elephant Festival initiates with an impressive and royal procession of the elephants. The tourists can also take fun of the newly started game of elephant polo. The 'Gaj Shringar' exhibition displays the various elephant-ornaments; textiles (Jhoo) parapernalic howdahs and carriages, paintings, medicines and food related to the elephants. The Elephant Fair concludes with the Dhaph and Gair dance demonstrating the spirit of Holi and a glittering display of fireworks with sweet memories lingering on in your memory.
